Explore Eve’s history! In 1863, Karl Götzinger began crafting sausages in Vienna. This image showcases their first shop at Naschmarkt, where the legacy of flavourful and hearty offerings began.
  • Karl Götzinger was the son of a mining company Director in Pommen. Unwilling to follow in his father’s footsteps, he left home and travelled to Vienna in 1863. There, he found work cooking for the men who were constructing the city’s new Ringstrasse. He soon became known for his delicious Black Pudding sausage.

    In 1863, Karl and his wife opened a sausage stand in the Naschemarkt and expanded his range of sausages. Their son Alois helped with the businesses and learned the secrets of how his father had crafted sausages that had a reputation for being flavoursome and hearty.

In 1878, Götzinger's butcher shop in Payerbach thrived under Alois and Emma. Their sons refined recipes, expanding the legacy. Emma continued after Alois, shaping Eve Smallgoods’ enduring tradition
  • In 1878 Alois and his wife Emma built upon his father’s success and opened a butcher’s shop in Payerbach. Their sons worked in the family business, helping to refine family recipes and further expand the product range. Emma continued running the business after her husband’s death.

Kurt and Karl inherited, but with Kurt's passing in WWII, Karl continued the legacy, becoming a Master in his trade. Active until his 90s, Karl's tradition lives on through Emma, Alois, Stephan, Auguste, and Christian. Explore Eve's history
  • Kurt and Karl inherited the business but Kurt died in WWII, leaving Karl to carry on tradition. He followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a Master in his trade. Karl worked actively in the business until passing away in his 90s. He was survived by Emma, Alois, Stephan, Auguste and Christian.

Karl’s children Christian and Auguste Götzinger took over the business in 1987. They continue to run it to this day and it remains a highly successful enterprise.

In 1986, Stephan Götzinger brought Austrian smallgoods tradition to Australia. Recognized at Expo 88, he founded Götzinger Smallgoods in 1988, later selling in 2000. In 2006, Stephan and Alanna launched Eve Smallgoods.
  • Karl’s son Stephan Götzinger left Austria for Australia in 1986. In 1988 he was asked to make the sausages for the Expo 88, which was staged in Brisbane. Stephan used traditional family recipes to craft and supply sausages to the German Bierhaus, as well as to the English and Swiss Pavilions. Following the popularity of his product, Stephan launched Götzinger Smallgoods, which he ran until selling the business in 2000.

    In 2006, Stephan and his wife Alanna opened a new smallgoods business; Eve Smallgoods. They continue the family tradition of quality craftsmanship using superior ingredients; providing products to delicatessens, catering companies, airlines, and the hospitality industry Australia-wide.
