Eve Smallgoods sources 100 per cent of its quality meats from Australian farmers in northern NSW and Queensland. Our suppliers share our commitment to the highest standards of animal welfare & sustainable agricultural practices. Having a local source of supply also helps ensure we keep embedded food miles low in the journey from paddock-to-place.

PORK
We source our pork from suppliers who allow their pigs to move freely within sheds where they have individual space and the opportunity for social interaction with others. Sheds have natural light and ventilation, with high levels of clean water and nutritious food available to the animals.

Farms are certified by the Australian Pork Industry Quality Assurance Program (APIQ), which provides the framework and standards by which Australian pig producers can demonstrate they are responsible farmers who care for their animals, the environment and their customers, by following safe and sustainable practices.

Our Pork cuts are 100% natural, free of growth-hormones and additives of any kind. Antibiotics are only used when necessary and then, only sparingly. This is to minimise the risk of bacterial resistance to key antibiotics used in human and animal health.

The processing sites are certified under the Australian Livestock Processing Industry Animal Welfare System (AAWCS); an independently audited program that certifies industry best practice animal welfare standards. The committee behind AAWCS includes representatives from the government, the scientific community, animal welfare organisations, RSPCA and Animals Australia; as well as technical experts and industry representatives. The committee regularly reviews standards to ensure that only producers who adhere to best practice in Australia are awarded this certification.

BEEF

The beef we source is grass or grain-fed and sourced from farms located in Northern New South Wales and Southeast Queensland, where cattle are organically reared. They are then processed at local abattoirs adhering to strict quality and ethical guidelines, before being delivered to the factory for processing. We only select the finest cuts and all cuts are 100% natural, free of growth-hormones and additives of any kind.

Our suppliers have improved the quality of the meat by adhering to sustainable pasture, water, biodiversity and soil management practices. These practices result in a safe, consistent, high quality product, while maintaining the quality of resources and conserving the natural environment and areas of native vegetation.

The safety, quality and integrity of our beef is accredited by all the Australian regulatory bodies including; AUS-MEAT, Livestock Production Assurance, National Feedlot Accreditation Scheme, Cattlecare and National Saleyard Quality Assurance Program, (to name just a few).

CHICKEN

Eve Smallgoods do not source caged chickens. Instead, we source chickens that have been allowed to move around freely in large, environmentally controlled sheds. Contrary to popular belief, chickens in Australia are not fed growth-promoting hormones. It has been illegal to do so since 1967. They are also not fed steroids and are not genetically modified. Antibiotics are only given to ensure the health of the birds.
