About Eve Smallgoods

The first Götzinger was the son of a director of a mining company in Pommen. He didn’t want to study so he travelled to Vienna in 1863 at the time from Kaiser Franz Joseph.

In Vienna he cooked for the workers that made the the new Ringstrasse. He was known for his Black Pudding. After that Karl Götzinger and his wife had a sausage stand in the Naschemarkt. His wife had such bad legs that she was serving kneeling behind the stand. In 1879, their son Alois Götzinger learnt his trade at the butcher called Hartleben at Rennwig St.

In 1878 Alois & Ema Götzinger started their first butcher shop. Their sons took over in 1943. Karl continued after the death of his brother and was the longest serving Master  in Austria have a career for over 57 years. He worked until he was 78.

Siblings Christian & Augusta Götzinger took over the business 1987 and continue to run it today.

Stephan left Austria in 1986 traveling to Sydney working for Unichef. In 1988 he moved to Brisbane after being asked to make the sausages for the German Bierhaus at Expo 88. He also supplied products to the English and Swiss Pavilions.

After Expo 88, he launched Götzinger Smallgoods with partner Gordon Ager in Brisbane. Later he partnered with TenderPlus to supply hotels, businesses and caterers with smallgoods, eventually opening a fast growing business at Burleigh.

Around 2000 Stephan sold Gotzinger Smallgoods but retained the family logo (shown opposite) returning to Austria due to family reasons but returned to Australia and started Eve Smallgoods with his wife Alanna in 2006.

Eve Smallgoods Australia factory is now at Currumbin Waters and serves goods Australia wide.
